Architectural Technology 2(i)

Overview

The course consists of Structures, and Active Environmental Design Strategies. Structures material develops the principles from Level 1; all components relate their application to Design and Communication course work.

Learning Objectives

On completion of this module, students should be able to:

- Demonstrate an understanding of the principles of active design systems: fundamentals of air-conditioning, heating and mechanical ventilation systems within special environments.

- Have the ability to critically appraise and select effective structural and material arrangements for buildings. (steel, concrete and timber).

- Demonstrate an understanding of the principles of how to successfully integrate technology, construction within architectural design through analysis of precedents.

Skills

On completion of this module, students be able to:

1. Apply passive sustainable strategies in the creation of the built environments using simple building.

2. Select, analyse and size structural system and members in medium sized buildings.
