Research Project (Study Abroad)

Overview

The Research Project (Study Abroad) module involves students undertaking, with academic supervision, a piece of independent research in fulfilment of the Study Abroad requirements of their home institution. Students will be asked to propose a topic of area that aligns with any of the research expertise of available staff in HAPP.

Learning Objectives

On successful completion of the module, students will have demonstrated an ability to:

• formulate an appropriate research question on a specific topic

• identify appropriate primary and secondary sources

• devise and follow a schedule for research activity

• engage with supervision

• undertake independent research

• compile a bibliography

• produce an extended piece of independent research

Skills

Students completing this module will have acquired or enhanced a range of research and independent learning skills, notably: project planning, time-management, information retrieval, critical reflection and analysis.
